Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on President Bola Tinubu to release the forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), alleging it contains damning evidence against former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Wike, speaking during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, claimed the report, which he says was suppressed by former Attorney General Abubakar Malami, exposes irregularities involving Amaechi and his wife. He accused Mrs. Amaechi of receiving N4 billion monthly from the NDDC under the pretext of training women in the Niger Delta region.
“I’m calling on Mr President to please release that forensic audit. If what I am saying isn’t in that report, I will resign. I’m not attached to office,” Wike declared, vowing to step down as FCT Minister if the report fails to indict Amaechi.
He also alleged that Amaechi, during his tenure as Rivers State governor, benefited financially from contractors and claimed his wife had no business background before her alleged involvement with the NDDC.
The forensic audit was commissioned under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to investigate corruption and mismanagement within the NDDC, but its findings have yet to be made public.
