The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), has reacted to complaints by some travelers to Nigeria, over their inability to obtain QR Codes and acknowledgement of test results.

Director-general of the Commission, Chikwe Ihekweazu in an interview on Thursday, said the difficulties experienced was due to “system failure.”

He said a system failure by one of the partner organizations supporting the management of the COVID-19 travel portal led to an unforeseen downtime on Tuesday.

Ihekweazu who said that the Commission takes full responsibility for the sad event, which led to inconvenience for several travelers to Nigeria, noted that the issue was resolved after 12 hours.

He also said that the Commission’s commitment remains to protect the health of Nigerians, by reducing the risk of spread of the COVID-19 virus.
