In a bid to reduce the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 and other diseases amongst health workers and the general public, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has launched a course on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).
The Commission which made this known in a statement yesterday , equally revealed that the course features modules on standard and transmission-based precautions, use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential aspects of infection control on healthcare.
“The online course is also designed to document vital information to monitor IPC compliance across health facilities at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels, both in public, private and faith-based facilities in Nigeria,” the statement read.
The agency confirmed that a certificate of participation will also be awarded at the end of the course by NCDC.
The NCDC is doing everything within its powers to curb the spread of the dreaded pandemic in the county, which has recorded 28,167, confirmed cases, with 11,462 discharged and 634 deaths. The agency reiterated that Nigerians should continue practicing good respiratory hygiene so as to curb the further spread of the virus.
