Director- General of the NCDC, Dr . Chikwe Ihekweazu has said that about 1,540 healthcare workers have been infected with the COVID-19 in Nigeria.
Ihekweazu made this known while speaking on the Infection Prevention and Control ( lPC) training across Nigeria for health workers. The IPC training is carried out in collaboration with the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
He said the ongoing training is critical to reducing the risks of COVID-19 transmission nationwide. It also highlights the role of healthcare workers in the delivery of public health and clinical services amid the pandemic.
The NCDC has supported the training of over 17, 000 health workers in IPC, and has established a network of IPC focal persons and experts nationwide, he noted.
