The Nigerian Navy has uncovered and dismantled five illegal refinery sites in Egbema, Rivers State, as part of its ongoing Operation DELTA SANITY.
The operation, carried out on Saturday, June 14, 2025, by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, led to the discovery of 62 refining ovens, 21 reservoirs, and 55 dug-out pits filled with large quantities of stolen crude oil, as well as illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and kerosene.
The Navy said the operation is part of intensified efforts to combat crude oil theft and illegal bunkering activities in the Niger Delta region.
