Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER has discovered and deactivated 2 illegal refining sites with 9 refining ovens, 3 storage tanks and 3 reservoirs laden with a large amount of stolen crude oil in Bukama, Rivers State.
The Navy in a statement said the discovery was made on Tuesday 8 October 2024.
It said the NNS PATHFINDER patrol team discovered a vandalised wellhead used to siphon crude oil into drums by crude oil thieves.
It added that illegal refining site with 3 cooking tanks, 4 storage tanks, wooden boats and several dug-out pits was also discovered and deactivated in Ogaji-Ama, Rivers.
