The Nigerian Navy, Forward Operating Base, BONNY led by the Commanding Officer Captain MA Mohammed On Wednesday 18 September 2024, conducted an educational rhapsody for pupils in Burukiri community, Bonny LGA, Rivers State.
The Navy in a statement said, the outreach included distribution of school bags and essential writing materials to primary and secondary schools students in the community.
It said, the outreach aligns with the Nigerian Navy’s non-kinetic strategy to promote social cohesion, enhance community relations, and support the well-being of the populace in own area of responsibility.
The Navy added that an impactful Safety Awareness Campaign was conducted by the Executive Officer of the Base Commander GM Daloeng in Finima Township. This segment focused on the safety of local fishermen from the surrounding fishing communities.
It also said, the fishermen were provided with life vests which is essential for ensuring their safety while fishing at sea. In addition to the distribution of the life vests, the Executive Officer delivered practical safety tips, emphasising on the importance of adherence to standard safety measures.
