The restoration of electricity supply across parts of Nigeria has commenced following a collapse of the national grid on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
In a notification to its customers, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) confirmed that the outage affected all its transmission stations, resulting in a total blackout across its four franchise states — Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.
The DisCo explained that the loss of supply from the national grid was responsible for the widespread power outage, assuring customers that efforts are underway to restore electricity.
“We appeal to our valued customers to exercise patience while this situation lasts. Power will be restored as soon as possible. All inconveniences are regretted,” the statement read.
National grid collapses, often caused by system disturbances, have remained a recurring challenge in Nigeria’s power sector, frequently leaving millions without electricity.
