The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed that its 2025 National Convention will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement jointly issued by the National Working Committee (NWC) and the 2025 National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), the party dismissed rumours of a postponement, describing them as false and misleading.
According to the statement signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, PDP National Publicity Secretary and Secretary of the NCOC Publicity and Communication Subcommittee, the misleading claims were being spread by individuals allegedly recruited by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a bid to halt the opposition’s convention.
“We are aware of the plots by the APC to destabilize the opposition and impose a one-party state in the country; a design that will be lawfully resisted,” the statement read in part.
The party further assured its members and supporters that all preparations were in top gear to ensure a successful convention in Ibadan.
While expressing gratitude to Nigerians for their overwhelming support, the PDP said delegates, party leaders, and supporters had already begun arriving in the Oyo State capital for the two-day event.
