The leadership of the National Assembly have said that they rejected the proposed hike in electricity tariff because, the time is not right for such.
The President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmed Lawan made this known yesterday after a meeting with the joint leadership of the National Assembly, DISCOs and the country’s Regulatory Agency. He equally noted that they met with the Vice President , Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and agreed that the decision is untimely as more work needed to be done before the increase in tariff.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, on his part said they met with the Vice President, because when there is a major policy decision, it is always good that the legislature and the executive are on the same page so, they do not sing different tunes.
