The National Assembly has announced the suspension of all legislative activities until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement issued by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives directed the rescheduling of the plenary session originally set for this week as a mark of respect for the late president, who died on Sunday, July 13, in London.
Members of the National Assembly have been urged to adjust their schedules to allow for full participation in the funeral activities of the late leader.
The leadership of both chambers extended condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Nigeria, and the government of Katsina State. They praised Buhari’s dedication to national unity and his reputation for integrity.
“May Almighty Allah grant his soul eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus,” the statement added.
