The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has confirmed that former militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has been invited over allegation of naira abuse currently under investigation.
Olukoyede emphasized that the EFCC remains committed to the principle that no individual is above the law. “We have invited Tompolo and the whole Nigerians know that,” he said. “Nobody should condemn him yet; it is a mere allegation for now.”
The EFCC chairman disclosed that a video linked to the case is undergoing forensic analysis to verify its authenticity. “You know these days people can impose… We have subjected it [the video] to forensic analysis,” he explained.
Olukoyede stressed that the anti-graft agency will not rush to judgment, stating, “Not until we conclude the case can we say whether Tompolo is guilty or not. Every Nigerian deserves fair hearing and the benefit of the doubt.”
