The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians against the circulation of counterfeit Kiss Condoms in the market, urging consumers to exercise caution and verify product authenticity before purchase.
The agency said it has issued guidelines to help the public identify fake products as part of efforts to protect public health. NAFDAC disclosed that it recently destroyed unregistered and substandard products valued at ₦55 billion in Ibadan, Oyo State, during a major enforcement operation.
In a related development, the agency also alerted Nigerians to the recall of certain Indomie brand noodles due to the presence of undeclared allergens, advising consumers to avoid affected products and comply with recall directives.
NAFDAC, established in 1993, is responsible for regulating and controlling the manufacture, importation, exportation, advertisement, distribution, sale, and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, chemicals, and packaged water in Nigeria. The agency operates under the Federal Ministry of Health.
The regulatory body noted that it has intensified actions against prohibited food products, achieved full membership in the International Council for Harmonisation, and strengthened collaboration with international organizations to enhance food safety standards in the country.
NAFDAC also stated that it continues to engage stakeholders, including supermarket owners and healthcare professionals, to promote compliance with regulations and ensure that only safe and quality products are available to consumers.
