That’s a massive win for public health and safety! NAFDAC’s operation to remove 140 tonnes of expired and unregistered drugs from a warehouse in Aba, Abia State, is a significant achievement. The agency’s Deputy Director, Mr. Omoyeni Babatunji, announced that the seized drugs were transported to NAFDAC’s office in Anambra for further action.¹
It’s alarming to think about the potential harm these expired and unregistered drugs could have caused if they had reached the market. The fact that over 178 drug samples collected during the operation will undergo laboratory testing is a testament to NAFDAC’s commitment to ensuring public safety.
This operation is a clear indication that NAFDAC is taking concrete steps to protect the health and well-being of Nigerians. The agency’s efforts to rid the market of fake, substandard, and expired products are truly commendable.
