The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has started enforcing its ban on alcoholic beverages sold in sachets and PET bottles below 200ml across the nation.
In Port Harcourt, the agency commenced the enforcement at the Rumuokoro Market on Friday.
Cyril Monye – the South-South Public Relations Officer for the zone, made this known in a statement on Friday.
According to him, large quantities of the prohibited products were discovered in two shops during the enforcement exercise.
He stated that the ban was a decision of multilateral committee set up by the Federal Government.
“The ban of these alcoholic beverages was a decision of multilateral committee set up by the federal government that involves all stakeholders in the business and NAFDAC will not standby while the lives of young Nigerians are been endangered by spirits,” he said.
