The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has released a list of states with the highest number of persons living with HIV in Nigeria, with Akwa Ibom and Benue coming tops.
The agency disclosed this in its quarterly factsheet signed by the DG of NACA Dr. Gambo Aliyu.
According to the statement, Taraba, Anambra and Abia, have the highest HIV prevalence rate of 2.6, 2.2, and 2.0 percent respectively.
It furthermore noted that the prevalence rate is very high in some communities because of the way people live, interact, and socialise.
