A woman whose 6-year-old daughter was allegedly sexually abused by a middle-aged man Hillary Uzoegbu, in Umuebule in Etche Local Government Area has accused the Police of calling her to settle the matter out of court.
The woman identified as Vera made this known in a chat with journalists after court proceedings today.
She said the Police refused to arrest the suspect when the crime was committed and wanted the matter swept under the market.
Vera equally noted that the suspect was her late husband’s friend who saw the 6-year-old like his own daughter.
Chief Magistrate Amaka Amanze had earlier remanded the suspect in Police custody to enable the prosecution file amended charges in the next adjourned date
Meanwhile, stakeholders have called on the relevant authorities to ensure justice is served on the matter so as to deter others from committing such heinous crime.
