Hon. Mojisola Miranda has been elected as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa for misconduct. This historic decision makes her the first female to lead the Assembly.
Miranda, who represents Apapa Constituency I, was born in Lagos in August 1980.
Her political journey started with the Alliance for Democracy (AD), which evolved into the All Progressives Congress (APC). Elected to the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2015, she has served in several key positions, including chairing committees on Women’s Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and Establishment, Training, Pension, and Public Service. In the 9th Assembly, she was the chief whip, and before her current position, she served as deputy speaker in the 10th Assembly.
Miranda’s emergence as Speaker signals a significant shift in Lagos State politics and underscores her extensive experience in public service and governance.
