A minor fire broke out at the Port Harcourt Refinery complex but was swiftly contained, sources confirmed on Tuesday.
A refinery staff member, who spoke anonymously, said the fire started during the introduction of new crude into the tunnel but was quickly extinguished. Operations have since resumed, and the situation is under control.
Joseph Obele, National Spokesman of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), confirmed that the fire lasted about ten minutes before being put out.
Meanwhile clips of the fire incident has gone viral.
