The Minister of Education, Chief Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, has condemned the attack on Government Girls School, Maga, in Kebbi State, describing it as a “cruel and senseless act.”
The tragic incident, which occurred in Maga community, saw the abduction of several schoolgirls and the killing of the school’s Vice Principal, whom the Minister described as a devoted educator.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dr. Alausa said the attack was “heartbreaking,” extending condolences to the families of the victims, the school community, and the people of Kebbi State. He stressed that no parent should endure such horror and no teacher should lose their life while carrying out the noble duty of educating children.
The Minister assured that the Federal Ministry of Education is working closely with security and intelligence agencies, as well as the Kebbi State Government, to secure the safe return of the abducted students and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to improving school safety nationwide, Dr. Alausa said efforts are being intensified to protect learning environments, especially in vulnerable communities.
“This painful moment strengthens our resolve,” he stated. “Our children deserve to learn in safety, and our teachers deserve to serve without fear. We will not relent until every school in Nigeria is a place of protection and hope.”
The statement was signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education.
