Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has revealed that he is not friends with Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo but maintains that there is mutual respect between them.
In an interview with DSsports, Messi clarified that while their rivalry was intense during their playing days in Spain’s La Liga, it never extended beyond the pitch.
“The competition with him was on the pitch. Obviously, as always, everything stayed on the field. Off the pitch, we are two normal people,” Messi said.
The Argentine captain added that although they do not have a personal relationship or spend time together, they have always treated each other with respect.
