The Rivers State Chapter of the Medical Laboratory Scientists Association of Nigeria has staged a protest over what it termed encroachment by the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.
Chairperson of the Association, Jane Oby during the protest urged the State Assembly to call on the management of the hospital to stop the appointment of a pathologist to head the Medical Laboratory Department.
She said the association is at the state house to express their dissatisfaction and displeasure over the appointment as pathologists have no business with laboratory tests.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Ikunyi Ibani who spoke to the protesters assured them that the house will dialogue with the relevant authorities and ensure that the matter is resolved.
