Degema, Rivers State – Martha Benjamin, a resident of Bille in Degema Local Government Area, has raised the alarm over the abduction of her only son by pirates who hijacked a passenger boat along the Isaka waterways.
Benjamin said her teenage son was among 13 passengers taken by the assailants while on his way to Bille to sit for exams. She also revealed that seven teenage girls, who were similarly traveling to write their examinations, were among those kidnapped.
The incident has triggered widespread concern in the community. Two residents of Bille voiced fear for the safety of the young girls and called on security agencies, particularly the Marine Police, to take immediate action to rescue the victims.
As of press time, no official response has been issued by authorities, and the fate of the abducted passengers remains unknown.
