A middle-aged man has been left in tears after a girl he picked up on the road absconded with some of his properties and the sum of one hundred thousand naira.
The incident occurred at the Awkuzu axis of Diobu in Port Harcourt on Monday.
According to the victim, he picked the girl on the road few days ago, while returning from work after she explained to him that she was stranded and had nowhere to go.
He said his intention was to help her spend few days in his house, so as to enable her sort herself out, but unknown to him the girl had other plans.
The victim explained that they both left the house to different destinations yesterday, only for him to return, and met a broken padlock with some of his belongings missing.
He said, he quickly rushed to the spot where he keeps money and could not find the said sum he kept in the house. Immediately he raised an alarm and neighbors approached him and explained that the lady said he asked her to destroy the padlock, after they saw her doing so.
The man who wept bitterly as he explained his ordeal, said he has been saving the money to start up a business.
He rained curses on the girl and threatened to deal with her anywhere he sees her.
One of the neighbors who spoke to us said they saw the lady destroying the padlock and confronted her but, she said the man asked her to destroy it because she misplaced her key.
She said they could not reach the owner of the house for confirmation because he was not online, and decided to let go, since they have been seeing both of them together for days.
