A 48-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel George has been arrested by officers of the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl around the Ada George axis of Port Harcourt.

Police Spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko made this known in a statement on Monday.

According to her, the teenager had been sent on an errand by her aunt when the suspect dragged her into a tricycle and sexually abused her with her hands tied, and her mouth covered.

She said the suspect was arrested through coordinated intelligence, and had confessed to the crime, adding that the suspect has been taken to the hospital.

Koko noted that the suspect will be prosecuted in line with the laws of the land.
