The chairman of Degema local government area of Rivers state, Hon. Michael John Williams has denied allegations of assault against him by one Dima Braide.
Dima Braide who hails from Bakana had accused the council Chairman of assaulting him close to his residence on Friday for allegedly insulting him(the chairman.)
“So while i was passing in front of his house yesterday in Bakana, he stood up from the chair he was sitting, held me and told me that you said you will beat me…okay beat me….and started hitting me on my face and kicking me” he said.
However, Daerefa-a Christopher Braide, media aide to the chairman in a statement described the allegation as untrue.
Meanwhile, human rights activists have called on the police to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure justice is served.
