Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his appointment as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), describing the President as a leader who rewards loyalty and promotes competence.
In a statement on Tuesday, Abe said his long-standing support for President Tinubu was based on conviction rather than expectation of personal reward, stressing that he believed the President would lead Nigeria differently and place the country on the path of progress.
According to him, recent economic indicators are beginning to show that Nigeria is moving in the right direction under Tinubu’s leadership.
“With my appointment as Chairman of NUPRC, the President has given me a great opportunity to contribute to the transformation of our country in a critical sector,” Abe said. “He has once again demonstrated the qualities that make him a master strategist and a leader many Nigerians trust.”
Abe rejected claims that Nigeria is drifting towards a one-party state, stating that Nigerians across political divides have simply found a leader they can believe in.
The former senator also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his role in the 2023 general elections, particularly in Rivers State.
He described Wike as the “001 of the Tinubu political family in Rivers State,” noting that the FCT Minister played a decisive role in delivering the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during what he described as one of the most difficult elections in Nigeria’s history.
“No one can claim to love Mr President and be ungrateful to Wike,” Abe said, adding that Wike’s support at a critical moment was pivotal to the success of the Tinubu political family in Rivers State, which he said has evolved into a broad-based coalition under the banner of the “Renewed Hope Family.”
Abe further thanked God for good health and life, describing divine grace as the foundation of his achievements. He also urged Nigerians to remain focused on national progress by supporting ongoing reforms, paying taxes, and ignoring critics.
“Better days are coming for our country,” he assured.
Abe concluded by reaffirming his loyalty to President Tinubu and his commitment to contributing meaningfully to national development through his new role at the NUPRC.
