The Rivers State Government Today held a security council meeting to address political tension in the state occasioned by the expiration of the tenure of council chairmen.
The governor after the meeting described the invasion of councils as unfortunate, stating that efforts are on to ensure peace in the state.
He reiterated that the tenure of council chairmen had ended and advised them against harbouring the ambition of returning to office.
Fubara also raised an alarm over alleged plan by those he described as enemies of the state to arrest some of his supporters, adding that they would have to go through him to achieve their aim.
According to him, his supporters have done nothing wrong and that they will continue to stand on the path of truth and progress.
As you may the governor this morning directed heads of LG administration to take charge of their respective councils, a call which sparked protests across the state.
