The Nigeria Bar Association says it will immediately commence legal proceedings (both locally and internationally) against the Nigerian Military and other relevant authorities over the gruesome murder of peaceful protesters in Lagos yesterday.
National President of the NBA, Mr. Olumide Akpata made this known in a statement yesterday immediately after the attack on #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate.
He said “the protesters’ act of misdemeanor of a breach of the curfew imposed by the Lagos State Government “did not warrant the use of live ammunition by the Nigerian military to confront otherwise peaceful, unarmed and defenseless protesters”.
Mr Olumide said the association strongly condemns the act of recklessness and lawlessness by the security agencies of the Government.
He said based on reports available to them the incident looked like a carefully calculated and premeditated attack.
He furthermore called on the Nigerian Army to provide officers who carried out the heinous crime.
