A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Emeka Beke has called for the immediate resignation of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over alleged land allocation to his son.
The group’s spokesperson, Darlington Nwauju, made the demand in a statement issued on Monday, stating that Wike’s resignation would allow for an independent and thorough investigation into the allegations.
Nwauju also criticised the recent accusations made by the FCT Minister against the wife of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. He described Wike’s claims as a distraction from the allegations involving himself and his son.
He further alleged that the forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was suppressed because its findings contradicted the narrative of certain top government officials. Nwauju challenged the current administration to release the report in the interest of transparency.
It would be recalled that Wike had recently accused Amaechi’s wife of diverting ₦4 billion monthly during the Buhari administration, claiming that the NDDC report was never made public because it allegedly indicted her.
