The spokesman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hakeem Amode, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a major shift in the state’s opposition landscape.
Amode announced his defection on Monday during a press conference in Ikeja, where he was joined by several other PDP leaders who also declared their departure from the party.
The former PDP spokesperson cited the leadership qualities of Abdul-Azeez Adediran, the party’s 2023 governorship candidate who recently joined the APC, as a key influence in their decision to switch allegiance.
The defection comes amid growing internal crises within the PDP and is expected to further weaken the opposition’s strength in Lagos State.
