LAGOS – The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, on Saturday, criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo for making what he described as inflammatory and baseless statements regarding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
Speaking in Lagos, Umahi dismissed Obasanjo’s claims that the ongoing project was wasteful and corrupt, challenging the former president to provide evidence to support his allegations.
Umahi acknowledged Obasanjo as his mentor and political father but argued that if the former president now viewed his projects as corrupt, it implied that he had learned corruption from Obasanjo himself. He recalled that Obasanjo had previously commended his transparency during his tenure as the governor of Ebonyi State.
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a major infrastructure project, has sparked debate over its cost and execution.
