A Facebook user, Chimereucheya Abigail Eyinnaya, has narrated how her sister was allegedly murdered by her husband in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State.
In a post shared on her social media page, Eyinnaya said the incident occurred on Wednesday, February 19, 2026. She alleged that her sister’s husband, identified as Maduabuchi, popularly known as Abuchi, attacked and killed his wife at a farm where she had gone to harvest cassava.
According to her, the suspect is from Amaji Village in Umuoyoro Community, Omuma LGA of Rivers State. She stated that the family received a call from the suspect’s relatives, who reportedly informed them that the matter had been reported at the Eberi Police Station.
Citing information allegedly provided by the police, Eyinnaya claimed that the suspect left his workshop at about noon after informing colleagues that he was going to see his wife and children. She alleged that he proceeded to the farm, assaulted his wife and killed her with a kitchen knife.
She further claimed that the suspect later returned and allegedly confessed to killing his wife and shooting his brother when he attempted to intervene, before fleeing the scene.
Eyinnaya added that the suspect reportedly came out of hiding on Friday, February 20, 2026, and was subsequently arrested by the police.
She said the case is currently being handled by the Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Describing the incident as heartbreaking,
Eyinnaya said her sister left behind two children. She called for justice and urged authorities to ensure the suspect is prosecuted according to the law.
