The wife of the Rivers State Governor, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, on Friday hosted a colourful Boxing Day Christmas party for children drawn from across the state, bringing laughter, games and gifts to hundreds of young residents.
The event, held at the Government House, was one of the highlights of the state’s 2025 holiday celebrations, as children from diverse backgrounds gathered for a day of fun and interaction.
By opening the Government House to them, the initiative promoted inclusion and strengthened the sense of community among residents.
Addressing the children, Lady Fubara urged them to enjoy the celebrations responsibly while embracing good values. She welcomed them warmly and encouraged them to take part in the various games and activities provided, while cautioning them to play safely and avoid hurting one another.
She also advised the children to be respectful and obedient to their parents, assist with household chores regardless of gender, and remain supportive of their families. Lady Fubara further cautioned against excessive use of mobile phones during the holidays, encouraging the children to balance screen time with healthy play.
Praying for the children and the state, she asked them to continue to pray for Rivers State and expressed hope that everyone would remain in good health and unity as the year 2026 approaches.
The First Lady concluded by wishing the children a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, expressing optimism that they would gather again to celebrate future Christmas parties in love and unity.
Beyond the festivities, the Boxing Day party underscored Lady Fubara’s commitment to the welfare, happiness and moral upbringing of children in Rivers State.
