Two suspected oil thieves have been arrested by officials of the Rivers State Joint Taskforce on illegal oil refining activities.
The suspects were arrested around the Orashi river in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, on Friday.
One of the taskforce officials, in a chat with journalists, said the suspects were arrested after a heavy gun battle leading to the escape of other suspects.
According to him, the suspects have been handed over to the police, adding that they will help in identifying other illegal camps in the area.
He stated that the Taskforce is out to end illegal oil activity in the area and that anyone found wanting, no matter how highly placed would be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.
