Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike says no form of verbal attack from political opponents will stop him from going on with the fight against illegal oil refining activities in the state.
The governor, who disclosed this in a statement today, said some persons are trying to politicize the fight against oil bunkering.
He said such persons are political opponents who do not mean well for Rivers people, as no right thinking person will support the illegal act.
He noted that some persons have been arrested and charged for the crime, which he described as economic sabotage.
Wike, revealed that anyone caught in the act no matter how highly placed will be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.
He commended the Police for the arrests made so far and warned all those involved to desist from the act.
There were rumors making the rounds that the governor’s fight against oil bunkering was political and linked to the 2023 elections.
