The Kogi State Government has dismissed allegations made by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who claimed on her verified Facebook page that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio should be held responsible if any harm comes to her.
In a statement, the state government described Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims as “reckless, malicious, and utterly false,” accusing her of attempting to incite unrest and portray herself as a victim. Officials alleged that her visit to Kogi Central Senatorial District was intended to stir trouble, violating the state’s ban on political gatherings meant to maintain law and order.
The government further stated that Akpoti-Uduaghan deleted her post after realizing the potential consequences of her accusations. However, authorities claim to have preserved a screenshot as evidence. The government maintained that security reports had already indicated plans by certain elements to cause disturbances in the region.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace in Kogi State and stated that while the security of all citizens, including Akpoti-Uduaghan, remains a priority, authorities would not tolerate anyone provoking crises and then playing the victim. Officials urged Nigerians to reject what they described as an attempt to manipulate public perception and assured that law and order would be upheld in the state.
