A new radio station dedicated to children and families, Kids FM 101.7, has officially commenced operations in Port Harcourt.
The launch, which will take place on Friday marks the expansion of Kids FM into the South-South region following successful debuts in Lagos. The station is positioned as Nigeria’s first full-time radio platform focused on children’s education, entertainment, and family-oriented programming.
Promoters of the station say the Port Harcourt channel will feature age-appropriate shows, storytelling segments, music, and interactive programs designed to engage young listeners while supporting parenting and learning.
The launch has been welcomed by media stakeholders and parents, who say the initiative fills a long-standing gap in Nigerian broadcasting for child-focused content.
