Four students of the University of Port Harcourt, Asumbo Elizabeth, Gbaa Nenubari, Onosigho Augustine and Eze Chimezie who were abducted by unknown gunmen few days ago have regained freedom.
Spokesperson of the institution, Sam Kpenu, who disclosed this in a statement said the students have been reunited with their families.
He also said the final year students were kidnapped around the Orashi River in Ahaoda local government area, where they had gone for vegetation sampling for their final year project.
We gathered that the victims were rescued on Wednesday, when a team of security operatives invaded the kidnappers’ den and engaged them in a shootout
“Four students of the University of Port Harcourt who were kidnapped last weekend have been released and reunited with their families,” he said.
“Gbaa Nenubari, Asumbo Elizabeth, Eze Chimezie and Onosigho Augustine were abducted on their way from the Orashi River where they had gone for a vegetation sampling for their final year project and postgraduate research work,” Kpenu added.
