The Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Thomas Bariere, has donated sets of school uniforms to students of the senior section of Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Model School, Nyowii Baen.
Kpazoo Morrison,Special Adviser on Social and Electronic Media to the chairman made this known in a statement.
According to him, donation, was described by Dr. Bariere as both a fulfilment of a promise and a symbolic birthday gesture.
“This is my birth month, this is the birth month of the man after whom this school is named,” he said while presenting the uniforms. “Our birthday gift to Nyesom Wike is the promise we made — that the first set of students enrolled into the senior section would receive free uniforms. In keeping with that promise, we have come to present our birthday gift to you because this school is named after him.”
Dr. Bariere encouraged the students to uphold high academic standards and embrace the values represented by former Governor Nyesom Wike. “I beg you all to come out in flying colours because Nyesom Wike represents excellence, fairness, and unity. He gave us the opportunity, and that is why we are here,” he added.
The Principal of the Senior Secondary Section, Emmanuel Bariture Benjamin, expressed gratitude on behalf of the school. He noted that the chairman not only provided uniforms but also offered financial support to the students — all at no cost.
“This is a good booster for people to understand that education is important. Many parents would not have been able to afford uniforms for their children. The school owes the chairman everything. We thank him so much for donating to our students,” he said.
The Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Model School, Nyowii Baen, was built and commissioned by Dr. Bariere during his first 100 days in office in his first tenure.
