The Ogoni Youth Federation, has called on the Federal Government to declare November 10, a public holiday in honor of late Environmental activist, Ken Saro-wiwa and eight others.
President of the group, Comrade Legborsi Yamaabana who said this in a statement yesterday, called for exoneration of the fallen heroes, and not pardon as it was done in the case of MKO Abiola.
He stated that pardon is for criminals adding that the fallen heroes committed no crime.
Yamaabana also called for posthumous honors to be bestowed on them, describing the matyrs as are true national heroes.
He explained that though Ken is no more, he will not rest in peace until human dignity returns to the men, women and children of Ogoni land.
Ken Saro-wiwa and eight others were killed in 1995 during the military dictatorship of General, Sani Abacha for the alleged murder of some Ogoni chiefs.
