Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has declared a political faceoff with Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kalu, who made the declaration during a political gathering, vowed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take control of Abia State from the Labour Party (LP) government. He accused the Otti administration of failing to meet the expectations of Abia citizens and pledged that the APC would offer better governance.
The statement has stirred political tension across the state, with analysts describing it as a direct challenge to Governor Otti’s leadership. APC supporters have welcomed Kalu’s declaration as a rallying call for political change, while LP members have dismissed it as mere rhetoric.
The development sets the tone for an intense political contest in 2027, as both parties begin early mobilization for what observers predict will be a decisive battle for the control of Abia State.
