Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Roland Sekibo says efforts by the council chairmen from the three Kalabari LGAs, and that of Emohua, to curb insecurity along the East West Road, have not yielded results.
The council boss, made this known in a statement today, while reacting to the high level of insecurity along the road.
According to him, the absence of Military checkpoints on that axis of the road, is the problem.
He also said that no ransom will be paid to secure the release of anyone, as the council chairmen are working with the security agencies to that effect.
Recall that a passenger was on Wednesday, abducted along the road, few hours after over 24 passengers earlier abducted regained freedom.
The Police had said they were working round the clock to ensure the release of the abductee.
