Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has denied reports alleging unruly behavior during a ValueJet flight boarding process at an airport on August 5, 2025.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, K1 described the reports as exaggerated and misleading, stressing that he neither endangered lives nor violated aviation protocols.
According to the statement, the controversy arose over a bottle of plain drinking water handed to the musician at the airport lounge, which was reportedly misconstrued as a prohibited substance. Despite his attempt to clarify the situation, the issue escalated unnecessarily.
K1’s team also refuted claims that he obstructed the aircraft or disrupted operations, insisting the veteran artiste is a frequent flyer who understands and respects aviation regulations.
The statement further noted that high-ranking officials — including the Head of Airport Security, personnel from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and the management of ValueJet — reached out to K1 to apologize and even offered him a complimentary private jet to Lagos, which he declined.
It was emphasized that only K1 and his personal assistant were directly involved in the incident, and several eyewitnesses reportedly appealed to him to remain calm.
The statement also pointed out that the pilot involved in the episode has since had her license suspended. K1’s camp suggested that any attempt by the pilot to shift blame was a cover-up tactic.
Calling on the media and public to refrain from sensationalism, the statement reaffirmed K1’s cooperation with the relevant authorities and his continued respect for the law.
