The sister of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, the UNIBEN student who was raped and murdered in a church in Edo state has alleged that the police demanded for “mobility fee” before investigating the death of her sister.
Vera’s sister made this known to journalists today, after she led aggrieved youths in a protest to the Edo State police headquarters. The youths were received by Ayoola Ajala, the Edo State Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of operations.
Vera’s sister during the chat equally alleged that the police officers asked her dad if her late daughter is the first person to be raped. This is for insisting that they commence investigation immediately. She expressed disappointment at the Nigerian Police for allegedly refusing to take up the case when it was initially reported. She noted that her father went to the police station in the community several times, but the officers requested for mobilisation money.
