Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has ordered the state leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) to suspend its planned strike.
The directive came during a meeting with local government chairmen, NULGE officials, and the Local Government Service Commission at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
Governor Fubara assured workers that another round of biometric verification would be conducted to clean up the civil service payroll.
Speaking after the meeting, Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Sir Chidi Lloyd, praised the governor for standing on the side of transparency and accountability.
