RIVERS STATE – Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, one of Nigeria’s leading construction firms, has reportedly begun withdrawing from several project sites in Rivers State due to delayed payments from the state government.
An insider source within the company, quoted in an online report, confirmed that the suspension of operations is linked to the government’s failure to meet periodic financial obligations on ongoing infrastructure projects. Despite receiving regular federal allocations and substantial internally generated revenue, the state’s Sole Administrator has allegedly halted funding.
As a result, numerous workers have been placed on standby, and construction activities have stalled across multiple sites pending further directives.
Another source indicated that while payments have been overdue for some time, repeated attempts to secure the funds have been unsuccessful, with top aides to the Sole Administrator reportedly refusing to provide clear commitments.
