The Chief, Tony Okocha-led Rivers APC has alleged that Justice G. V. Ogbomanu of the state High Court who nullified its Ward, LG and State Congresses is a cousin to Gov. Sim Fubara.
Publicity Secretary of the party, Chibuike Ikenga made the allegation in a statement criticizing the ruling.
He also accused the state governor of sponsoring court cases against the party.
“Aggrieved by the order of the Court of Appeal staying the execution of the interim order of injunction and the subsequent conduct of APC ward congresses on November 16, 2024, three (3) other agents of Governor Fubara ran again to the Rivers State High Court on November 19, 2024, this time before the cousin of Governor Fubara—Hon. Justice G. V. Obomanu, who was just elevated by Governor Fubara this year—to obtain another fresh order of interim injunction in suit No: PHC/3859/CS/2024: Okwu Joebrown Ndike vs APC & Anor. As usual, the Rivers State High Court granted a fresh order of interim injunction (ex parte) against the same congresses of a political party—the APC,” he said.
He revealed that the party has instructed its lawyers to take steps to appeal the decision and challenge the jurisdiction of the Rivers State High Court.
