A joint military team have reportedly rescued five expatriates kidnapped by suspected militants at “Yellow Island” in Rivers State.
The expatriates including three Russians, one Ukrainian and one Equatorial Guinean, were freed by the joint military team today.
Major General John Enenche, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations disclosed this in a chat with journalists today. Major General Enenche said the victims were receiving medical treatment at the NNS Pathfinder medical centre.
He also stated that the troops in addition to the rescue, raided and destroyed four identified hideouts belonging to militants at Ibiakafemo, Idinkiri, Tombie and Ogboma.
The expatriates according to findings were abducted by the unknown gunmen on May 9, 2020.
