The jean carnival which was part of the student week activities at the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education on Monday turned into a clash between suspected cult groups, the Vikings and Black Axe

A male student of the institution who is suspected to be the leader of the Black Axe was also attacked and left unconscious after receiving several machet cuts by members of the Vikings Confraternity.

Trouble started when members of the Vikings group who had being on the trail of the leader of the Black Axe group stormed on him at the jean carnival where he was attacked.

Though there were speculations on Tuesday night that the victim may have died as a result of the injuries he sustained but the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Ngozi Okiridu said no life was lost

She said security operatives stopped the free-for-all though some of the so-called fighters only sustained injuries.
